Career Highlights
Prior to joining the faculty at John Marshall, Professor Malempati served for two years as the managing attorney for the Office of the Child Advocate Attorneys in Fulton County Juvenile Court, where she led a team of lawyers and investigators representing children in abuse and neglect proceedings. She is also an experienced trial attorney, having worked in criminal defense for over ten years as an Assistant Public Defender in Fulton County and in private practice. Throughout her career as a trial lawyer, she successfully defended homicides, sex crimes, and other complex felony cases. She also argued cases before the Georgia Supreme Court and Court of Appeals.
Professor Malempati serves as a faculty member for the National Institute for Trial Advocacy (NITA) where she dedicates time to the training and development of advocacy skills for lawyers in public service. She also serves on the Boards of the National Association of Legal Advocacy Educators (NALAE) and the Georgia Association of Counsel for Children (GACC).
