Wendy Aina, Chief Development Officer
Wendy Aina has served as the Chief Development Officer at Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School (AJMLS) since January 2021. She oversees the Office of Development and Alumni Relations and manages our three 501(c)(3) organizations, including the John Marshall Law School Foundation, the Law School and the Alumni Association.
With many years of experience in higher education and more than 15+ years at a Fortune 500 company, Wendy specializes in customer service, fundraising, and student engagement. She serves on the Board of Directors at the University of Georgia’s Franklin College of Arts and Sciences, where she holds the position of Secretary, and she recently served on the board of The Gwinnett Pearls of Service Foundation, Inc.
Before joining AJMLS, Wendy held leadership roles at Georgia State University and the University of Georgia, where she increased Alumni engagement and scholarship support. She holds a bachelor’s degree in English and a Master’s in Educational Administration & Policy from the University of Georgia. Wendy has been a member of Cannon United Methodist Church in Snellville for over 15 years.
Wendy is married to Femi Aina, Chief Information Officer at Atlanta Public Schools. They have one daughter, Hillary, who is a senior at the University of Florida.
Reflecting on her role, Wendy shares, “After three years as Chief Development Officer, I am proud of our progress in securing scholarships and building Alumni relationships and partnerships with the external community. My goal is to continue expanding opportunities for student success and strengthening our community.”
Sloane Serafin, Assistant Director of Development
Sloane Serafin started as Assistant Director of Development at AJMLS in September 2024. She is from Dacula, GA and attended Georgia Southern University. There she studied Nonprofit Management and Political Science for a BS in Interdisciplinary Studies.
Sloane Serafin began fundraising for nonprofits in 2018. She served as Regional Director for The Fund for The Public Interest where she oversaw various fundraising projects. Including the face-to-face fundraising office in Atlanta for the Human Rights Campaign, as well as developing and implementing calling campaigns for the Equality Act.
Before joining AJMLS, Sloane most recently served as Project and Operations Manager for Grassroots Voter Outreach. Here she ran face-to-face canvassing campaigns in major cities across the country such as New Orleans, LA and Washington, D.C. Overall, Sloane has raised over $12 million benefiting federal legislation for additional civil rights protections.
I’m extremely excited to bring my skills and experience to the DAR team as we move forward to serve our students, alumni, and the entire AJMLS community.
AJ Doucett, Director of Alumni Relations
AJ Doucett currently serves as the Director of Alumni Relations at Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School and is a proud member of the AJMLS Class of 2007. Throughout his career, AJ has been dedicated to the AJMLS community. His commitment to the Law School was recognized at his graduation, where he received the John Marshall Law School Award for Outstanding Service to the School & Community.
After passing the Georgia Bar Exam, AJ began his professional journey at the Law School as a Legal Research and Reference Librarian, a role he held for twelve years. During this time, he helped students, alumni, and professors enhance their legal research skills and supported the development of law library services.
In his current role, AJ is committed to fostering meaningful connections between alumni and their alma mater. He leads numerous alumni initiatives, including both virtual and in-person events, and works closely with the Alumni Association Board to achieve their goals. AJ’s focus is on strengthening relationships within the AJMLS community and ensuring alumni stay connected with the school’s future. He finds satisfaction in his role reestablishing connections with past students who have gone on to achieve remarkable success as alumni.
